Monsoon Season in Arizona: What to Do After a Hail Storm
Arizona's monsoon can dent a car in minutes. Here is a step-by-step plan for the day after a storm, from photos and claims to picking the right repair.

Arizona's hail window
Monsoon runs from mid-June through September, and that is when most Valley hail falls. A second, smaller window opens in March and April when spring storms cross the desert. Both kinds move fast: one cell can drop golf-ball hail on a single neighborhood and leave the next one dry.
The day after a storm
- Photograph everything in daylight. Park in shade and let light rake across the panel. Shallow hail dents show up best when light skims the surface.
- Do not wait to book. After a Valley-wide storm, repair slots fill within days. Getting on the schedule early protects your timeline.
- Check glass, trim, and plastics. Windshields, pillar trim, and mirror housings take hits too, and some of that has to be replaced rather than repaired.
- File the claim. Hail falls under comprehensive coverage, not liability-only, and a weather claim is generally treated as not-at-fault.
- Get the vehicle documented by a PDR specialist. A written dent count is what keeps the claim and the repair aligned.
- Choose PDR where it applies. With the paint intact, panels are restored with no filler and no repaint.
